The headstone for William Blennerhassett and his family in Wigton churchyard is one of many whose inscriptions were transcribed in 1892 by the Vicar of Dalston, Rev. James Wilson MA. Since then almost all the stones have been removed from the churchyard, placed as paving stones at the front of the church and now almost illegible. Since 1857 all burials at Wigton have been at the Town Cemetery. |
